| China : Laying the cornerstone for the Yunnan Hope Elementary School |

The China Corporation promised to rebuild the Tang Pang Elementary School in Linchiang-si Yunnan province, and carried out the commencement ceremony on the 8th of May.
Children at this school are currently forced to trek through long, inconvenient roads to go to school. According to the school’s principle, they are currently educating first graders all the way up to fourth graders. The upperclassmen have to study at a school that is even further due to a shortage of classrooms. Most of the students have to board there since they live too far away to commute, and their lodging basically consists of a simple mat without even a blanket. The students every now and then bring rice, vegetables, and wood from their homes to cook their own meals, but the school doesn’t even have a cooking-range and they usually end up getting by with boiled potatoes and red pepper powder. The children there dream of studying under a roof that doesn’t leak, playing soccer on an open field, and living in a dormitory that actually has a desks. The Ceragem China Corporation donated school supplies including computers in an effort to make those dreams come true. Mr. Kim Sang Sik, vice chief officer of the sales department, noted that “Ceragem’s Tang Pang elementary school reconstruction project contains the hopes of our business partners and customers in the Yunnan region and we hope that the new school will offer these kids an opportunity to learn in a pleasant environment” and pledged to visit the school every new years and children’s day to deliver additional supplies.
Ceragem has already finished building Hope Elementary Schools in Beijing and Shandong, two more are on their way in the Tianjin (due for completion in June) and Yunnan provinces.
